Nepali coffee: why we pour beans from Nuwakot and Dhading
Nepal grows arabica coffee in its mid-hills. Here is a short introduction to Nepali coffee and the two Nepali origins on our shelf.

Most people think of Ethiopia, Colombia or Brazil when they think of coffee. Fewer know that Nepal grows coffee too, and that it can sit happily next to the famous origins in the cup.
Coffee in the hills of Nepal
Nepali coffee is mostly arabica, grown in the mid-hills on small family farms, often in the shade of other trees. It is a young industry compared to tea, and the amounts are small, which is part of what makes it special.
Nuwakot
Nuwakot lies in the hills north of Kathmandu. We keep a Nuwakot arabica on the shelf for anyone who wants to taste coffee grown close to home.
Dhading
Dhading, west of Kathmandu, is our second Nepali origin: a small-farm, high-grown arabica.
Taste them side by side
Order a pour over with a Nepali bean, then come back and try the Ethiopia Guji Hambela or the Colombia. It is the best way to learn what you like.
